Ribes Castle, documented since the 10th century, has witnessed the historical evolution of the town and visits to the Castle explain this process until nowadays.

With its museum, visitors can learn about and delve into different relevant aspects of this history. Images, audiovisuals, models or sound elements accompany us through the original spaces of the castle to discover not only the historical significance of this building, closely linked to the territory, but also the landscape and the transformation of Sant Pere de Ribes. The visit takes a tour of the geology, fauna and flora of the territory and also the history of the castle in which it is discovered, among other stories, that in the Middle Ages there was a troubadour and that in the twentieth century, was the residence of the dancer, choreographer and scholar of the castanets, José de Udaeta.

During the visit, among other aspects, the growth of the town in medieval times, the expansion of the 18th and 19th centuries and, more recently, the growth of the town of Les Roquetes are also explained. On the other hand, a signage establishes an itinerary through the main elements of Sota-Ribes, such as the castle, the town hall or the old church.

From the castle’s courtyard, some viewers help us to look at the surrounding landscape and focus our view on the hermitage of Sant Pau, the vineyards or the timbres, all of which are elements of the Ribetans ’identity. The old stable of the castle pays homage to the gastronomy of Sant Pere de Ribes, highlighting local products of proximity and quality.
