The Monumental Complex of Sa Roca, listed as a historical monument of artistic interest and national interest, is located on the top of the Roca hill. We organize guided or self-guided tours to publicize its rich heritage and history. It is formed by the castle of Sant Martí Sarroca (X) and the Romanesque church of Santa Maria (X. XI).

The Romanesque church of Santa Maria is the most genuine architectural piece of the medieval complex of La Roca and has been classified as an artistic historical monument by the Generalitat de Catalunya since 1931.

This temple was erected at the end of the 12th century and consecrated in 1204. It is built on an earlier 10th-century religious building. Its apse is considered the best of all Catalan lands in its style.

Inside, you can see the Gothic altarpiece of the Ascension of the Lord, dated 1421, from the workshop of Lluís Borrassà and attributed to Jaume Cabrera.

It has additions of later styles, such as the 16th century octagonal bell tower, built on top of the dome, a baroque chapel, a Renaissance-style door on the west façade and a neoclassical chapel, built on the north arm of the 17th and 18th century transept, with a Baroque altar and altarpiece Ramon Moret (1718). Thanks to its interest, it was restored in 1906 by the renowned architect and politician Josep Puig i Cadafalch.

The Santmartí Castle was built in the 10th century by Guillem, son of the founder of the Santmartí and veguer del Penedès lineage, Galí Santmartí. In the twelfth century it was when high walls were built and noble rooms were built. Mir Geribert, member of the Barcelona County family and self-proclaimed Prince of Olèrdola, reinforced it as a military fortification.

In the time of Pere el Cerimoniós (1360), the Castle was owned by the House of Barcelona and then became the possession of the Cervelló family. They sold the Castle to Pia Almoina to pay debts, an entity that ruled it until 1837.

The Castle was once again used for military purposes during the War of Succession and was one of the last centers of resistance to the troops of Philip V, before which he capitulated on 18 September, a week after Barcelona and its defenders were persecuted until Sant Quintí de Mediona and killed when they were found there, together with the people of that town.

With the confiscation, the degradation of the architectural complex was accelerated, which in many cases was used as a supplier of materials for the construction of new houses in the town. However, the Castle was still reinforced again during the First Carlist War, but its decline was no longer stopped until the middle of the last century, when a popular initiative promoted the rehabilitation of the complex.

The structure of the castle of Sant Martí has been rebuilt, the part formed by the noblest rooms, which form an interior courtyard in a trapezoidal way. The Gothic Room evokes the old dining room of the castle, originally in Romanesque style. The Ponent Room is restored in a Renaissance style. In the South Wing, the first floor housed the old rooms or bedrooms (the windows preserve the festive seats). The ground floor was the old wine cellar of the castle, Romanesque style

On the ground floor, we find the stables, a room that maintains its original structure from the 11th century and the old kitchens of the castle, which occupy three rooms on the ground floor of the building. These two spaces have become a museum and currently contain archaeological finds found in the municipality and a space with elements of daily life centuries ago.
